Vitamin A acts as an antioxidant protecting cells from free radical damage. It is essential for skin growth and repair, formation and maintenance of teeth, bones, soft tissue, white blood cells, the immune system and mucus membranes.

There are two types of vitamin A: preformed vitamin A (also called retinol) found in animal products and pro-vitamin A found in plant-based foods such as fruits and vegetables.
The most common type of pro-vitamin A is beta-carotene that can be usually found in brightly colored fruits and veggies.
Vitamin A is known for its many health benefits.
